How many senators are there?

There are 105 Senate seats. There are currently 62 Liberals, 23 members of the Conservative Party, 4 independent senators, 3 members of the Progressive Conservative Party, one Independent-NDP member, and 12 vacancies.

Where do the senators come from?

British Columbia has 6 seats

New Brunswick - 10 seats

Alberta - 6 seats

Nova Scotia - 10 seats

Saskatchewan - 6 seats

Newfoundland & Labrador - 6 seats

Manitoba - 6 seats

Nunavut Territory - 1 seat

Ontario - 24 seats

Northwest Territories - 1 seat

Quebec - 24 seats

Yukon Territory - 1 seat

Prince Edward Island - 4 seats

 

How many senators are women?
There are currently 32 women appointed to the Senate or 34.4% of the current total in the Senate. Of these, 22 are Liberal, eight are Conservatives, one is a Progressive Conservative, one is Independent-NDP, and one is Independent.
